I would welcome all words of encouragement (or abuse were needed) to help me get there.

I am ex-Soldier and Police Officer and now work as a Door Supervisor (Bouncer in old money) and Actor (check out my credits on IMDB, if you are really bored).

I used to cycle at quite a high level before and during my Army days. I had been off the bike for around 20 years before rediscovering the beauty of it late last year. I have set myself the challenge of cycling Paris to London next year for Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital in July '08.

I intend to do Mont Ventoux & Alpe d'Huez next year also, I will probably be doing this before the Paris - London.

All this may sound relatively easy to the seasoned cyclist and fitness enthusiast. However, it is a long time since I was at my tabbing, paratrooping weight of 10.5st. I'm now weighing in at 270lbs with a BMI of 34.

I WILL BE NO MORE THAN 14.5st WHEN I START THE PARIS - LONDON AND WITH A BMI OF 24 OR LESS.

YOU CAN SEE WHY I NEED YOUR HELP!

Thanks

Jonny
